Welcome Back, IOTA families! It’s a new year, and the path to achievement starts now! As we kick off a brand-new school year, DAILY ATTENDANCE is more important than ever. Let’s work together to make sure every student is present, learning, and thriving from the start.
IOTA Community Schools Tennessee represents a new era in education, founded by a team dedicated to advancing educational standards from their work at Green Dot Public Schools. Our mission is clear and ambitious: to provide access and opportunities that transform lives for each student.
At IOTA, we are committed to ensuring equitable access to high-quality academic experiences that cater to the unique needs of each student.
I am excited to serve the many stakeholders of IOTA Community Schools Tennessee. We are an evolving organization with the belief that for every small thing we sew into the communities where we operate, there is the potential to make an impact much greater than we will see in just our lifetimes. I have had the pleasure of seeing this theory in action first hand as a lifelong Memphian and educator in this city for over 25 years.
IOTA is an acronym that stands for Innovation, Opportunity, Transformation & Access.
Innovation – We believe that we are in a unique environment to offer students experiences that will prepare them for college, careers and beyond, while also providing academic approaches that are unique to their individual experiences.
Opportunity – The only difference between the students we serve and the students in more affluent communities are the opportunities provided. We are continuously working to build opportunities that are not often seen in the traditional setting, for every student, especially those who have been academically underserved.
Transformation – We are in communities that have seen many iterations: growth, deterioration, revitalization and are ever evolving. We hope to create spaces for our students and families that bring them to the table for economic and social renewal, building pipelines for sustainability.
Access – Once our students are provided the opportunity and the access to equitable systems, networking and services, they will rise to the expectation and meet every challenge head on.
I am grateful that I get to do this work each day with the dedicated teachers, leaders and staff who have committed themselves to the same work. We will continue to strive for excellence knowing that with every small seed we sow, we will reap a greater harvest.
In Service,
Jocquell Rodgers
